Even though Ali Farka Toure passed away several years ago, the World Circuit label doesn't seem ready to say goodbye to the man, proven by this new album for which they used recordings Ali made in the company of his musical soul mate Toumani Diabate back in 2005. 'Ali And Toumani' is in all regards a very sober and intimate album giving the listener the impression to be listening to the last notes of a departing musician. In this case we should write "departing musicians", because Orlando 'Cachaíto' Lopez (Buena Vista Social Club), responsible for the bass lines on 'Ali And Toumani', also recently passed away. 'Ali And Toumani' is an album in the same vein as the previous joint project of both musicians, 2005 Grammy winning 'In The Heart Of The Moon'.
