'Morning Light', Animo's debut EP, contained mainly lovers tunes, but meanwhile the band rechristened itself Animo Cruz (referring to Santa Cruz, California, the band's hometown) and on successor 'Why Not' sounds a lot more militant. The track list of this EP counts six tracks of which 'The Revolution Song', a revamp of Dennis Brown's 'Revolution', is undoubtedly the most recognizable. That being said, 'The Grind', a song about the often mind-numbing jobs we're all stuck in, and the catchy riddim of 'The Yard', could also convince yours truly. With 'Why Not' Mo El-Sherif & co prove they aren't one hit wonders and can handle both a decent lovers tune and more substantive songs.
