The Pressure Sounds label had another browse through the catalog of melodica king Augustus Pablo and for 'Message Music' focused on some his lesser-known productions from the 1980s, a period when Pablo both as a musician and as a producer tried to adapt to the increasing digitalization of Jamaican music. In his productions that was reflected in, among other things, his use of digital drum kits like that of Simmons, but also early drum machines like Linn or Oberheim DX. Nice examples on 'Message Music' are two versions of Pablo's best known hit 'Java' (here as 'A Java Instrumental' and 'Run Come Yah Version'). Where yours truly is concerned 'Message Music' wouldn't have been out of place in Greensleeves/VP Records Evolution Of Dub series. Happy dubbing!
