Azam Ali, a Canadian of Iranian origin dedicated 'De La Nuit Au Lever Du Jour' to her son Iman who was born in 2008. For the album she collected a number of traditional lullabies from the Middle East, from Turkey ('Dandini', 'Neni Desem') over her native Iran ('Noor', 'Mehman') to Azerbaijan ('Shirin'), using a number of instruments that are still little known in the West (riq, santur, setar and saz). With this kind of ethereal, almost meditative, music yours truly is not very familiar, but fans of Natacha Atlas, for example, will certainly find 'De La Nuit Au Lever Du Jour' to their liking.
