Six long years, Clifton Bailey aka Capleton aka King Shango made us wait for a follow-up to his 2004 'Reign Of Fire' album. On 'I-Ternal Fire' the fireman seems to hold back a bit; not that it's a bad album, on the contrary, but this time the focus seems to be more on Capleton's singing voice ('Some Day', 'Mama You Strong', 'I'm In Love') and this makes the energy level drop a bit. The fact it took so long for 'I-Ternal Fire' finally to be released unfortunately also means some of the riddims (for 'Global War' Capleton recycles the riddim that he used for 'Burn Dem Up', his duet with Jamelody and the Rub A Dub riddim of 'Same Old Story' we already knew from Richie Spice's 'The Plane Land') sound slightly dated. The jury's still out on wither Capleton will be able to keep the fire burning forever, as the title of this album suggests, but for the time being he still remains one of our favorite Bobo-singjays!
