As this is already the third long player of his hand ending up on our desk in less than a year, Colah Colah can most definitely be considered a busy bee (nod to Colah Colah's most recent hit 'The Bees' which also pops up in the track list of this album). 'One Love Unity Network Volume 1' might as well be called 'Colah Colah And Friends' as the Kingstonian singjay invited a guest vocalist for each track on this album. The guest list features a number of familiar faces (Luciano, Natty King, Mikey General, Turbulence), but also a few surprises: Roy 'Kenneth Culture' Dayes, alongside Joseph Hill and Albert Walker, the third original member of Culture, performs a version of the Culture smash 'The International Herb' and young lions like Derrick Parker, Sir Ford and Canadian Jah Lex, also lend a hand. Add to that a series of classic riddims (Swing Easy, African Beat, Get Myself Together, Mad Mad, Rockfort Rock...) and you know 'One Love Unity Network Volume 1' guarantees 50 minutes of musical entertainment. Very occasionally ('Put Your Trust In The Most High' feat. Fantan Mojah) a riddim sounds just a tad too one-dimensional, but most tracks on the album leave little to be desired. Just as on his previous albums ('Networks' and 'Network & The Future') networking remains Colah Colah's main source of inspiration. We can but hope 'One Love Unity Network Volume 2' will be of the same caliber.
