Curumin (born Luciano Nakata Albuquerque) has quickly become one of the most important ambassadors of modern Brazilian music. In his music the singer/composer/multi-instrumentalist draws on influences from pop, reggae, hip-hop, funk, rock and Brazilian genres like samba and bossa nova, thus creating his very own boundless audio world. Curumin's international career began in 2005 when his music was noticed by the American hip-hop duo Blackalicious, who, at the time, were on tour in Brazil. Actress Natalie Portman used one of his tracks ('Tudo Bem Malandro') for her 'Big Change: Songs For FINCA' compilation (Foundation for International Community Assistance) and Nike used the song 'Guerreiro' in a commercial for the FIFA World Cup. 'JapanPopShow', Curumin's second album, was originally released in 2008 (Quannum Projects/JVC/YB Music), but is now reissued by the French Makasound label.
