Even though Dubheart hail from Bournemouth in the south of England, oddly enough they sound as if they were a French band, something that is mostly down to their Parisian lead-vocalist Tenja (born Steven Regis), who belatedly joined the band in 2008. In 2013 Dubheart were elected winners of the Rototom European Reggae Contest, a victory the band celebrated a few weeks later with the release of a first long player, 'Mental Slavery', an album packed with solid (new) roots tunes. In the meantime the album has been reworked by drummer/producer Gavin 'Fullness' Sant (owner of Karnatone Records) and is now also available in a great dub version. The French reggae scene gets some unexpectedly stiff competition from across the channel!
