'System Shakedown' sounds a lot like a heavy UK dub session and vocal guests like Brother Culture, Tippa Irie or Dennis Alcapone (the great 'Struggle') only reinforce that feeling. That being said, 'System Shakedown' also contains tracks with a different vibe: Omar Perry and veteran deejay U Brown go dubstep for 'Dem No Like It' and 'Whatchya Gonna Do', both 'Celebrate My Love' feat. Jay Douglas (a Jamaican veteran from Toronto) and 'Give A Helping Hand' feat. Mighty Diamonds have a more classic roots touch and 'Lock Down' feat. Ammoye is a little addition for the dancehall-lovers among you. The catchiest track on the album without any competition is opener 'Weeble Wobble' with Canadian singjay Kulcha Ites on vocals. As the icing on the cake, the track list includes 'Deep Dark Dub' and 'Kingdom Dub', two brilliant instrumental dub cuts. 'System Shakedown' is yet another outstanding album from the Canadian flag-bearer of reggae: Dubmatix!
