'The French Sessions' is one of those releases with a title that already says it all. For this album Canadian producer Dubmatix collaborated with a host of French artists (singing trombonist Guive, Phases Cachées member Volodia, Taiwan MC, Tribuman, Patko...), resulting in yet another great album. Recommendations from the track list are opener 'Dangerous' featuring Guive & Taiwan MC, 'Are You Ready/Reggae Sun Ska Anthem', an excellent promo tune for the French Reggae Sun Ska festival by LMK and Volodia, and that same LMK convinces even a second time with 'So Bad', a dubstep-influenced tune in which the French singer's fast rapping style reminded yours truly of that of Soom T (probably not a coincidence: in the past both ladies already collaborated on several occasions). Just like on 'Sounds Of Life' by Christophe Rigaud & The High Reeds, it was however once again French-Beninese singjay Joe Pilgrim ('Africa') who most impressed yours truly.
