Yours truly got to know Cameroonian singer-songwriter Erik Aliana in 2013 thanks to his 'Just My Country' album. For 'Just My Soul', he has now joined forces with his good friend and colleague, Francis 'Picket' Dschoutezo. 'Just My Soul' may occasionally sound as if you're surrounded by a group of Pygmies in the African rain forest ('Coeur De Pygmées'), in his songs Aliana tackles topics ranging from the arms trade ('Ngaré'), over the damaging effects spreading gossip and untruths can have ('Kongossa'), to the ubiquity of smart phones, which have now also become a plague in Africa ('Kā Owa'). Intimate look into the soul of the artist and the (musical) culture of his native country Cameroon.
