Ester Rada is an Israeli singer/actress of Ethiopian origin presenting her long player debut with this self-titled album. In an intriguing way Rada manages - she likes to refer to examples like Nina Simone, Billie Holiday and Erykah Badu herself - to blend soul, r&b, funk, hip-hop ('No More'), reggae ('Sorries', 'No More') and Ethio-jazz (definitely check Ester's version of Muluken Melesse's 'Nanu Ney'), making this album appealing both to lovers of urban genres and amateurs of world music.
