It had been since 2005 ('It's My Time', Explorer Records) that we had heard anything of Everton Blender, but with 'Higher Heights Revolution' he returns in style. This almost completely self-produced album already appeared as early as 2011 on Blender's own Island Splash Records label and thanks to Heartbeat Europe is now also finally distributed in Europe. 'Higher Heights Revolution' is a classic roots album in every sense of the word; Everton is one of the few vocalists who still sings in the line of greats like Dennis Brown and for a lot of the tracks on this album he used classic riddims: 'When You Wrong' is a reworked version of Dennis Brown's 'To The Foundation', 'Ali Ali Ho' over an update of Wailing Souls' 'Jah Give Us Life' is actually a nod to Cab Calloway's 'Hi-De-Ho' and for 'Tonight' Blender revisited the College Rock riddim. If 'Conference Table' sounds familiar, that's’s because this is in fact really nothing more than Everton's reggae version of Chi-Lites soul-hit 'There Will Never Be Any Peace (Until God Is Seated Around The Conference Table)'. For 'Higher Heights Revolution' Everton worked closely together with his daughter Isha, who co-wrote several tracks and also sings on 'Lion Crown'.
