Cameroonian singer-songwriter Henri Dikongue was born in Douala, Cameroon's main port city, but has been a resident of Besançon in the east of France for many years now. Henri's musical universe should be situated somewhere between Pierre Akendengue, Lokua Kanza and Ismael Lo, with Dikongue alternating between Douala and French, incorporating influences from makossa ('Kaba Ngondo', a reworking of Charles Lembé's 'Mabola'), bikutsi, rumba and reggae. However, where 'Diaspora' is concerned, feel free to add bossa nova ('Bekusedi'), beguine ('Souffrir d'Aimer') and even some jazz and rock ('Mulatako', 'Kaba Ngondo Instrumental') to that mix. Title track 'Diaspora', which also pops up in the track list in a slam-version, is a nice intimate tribute to the African continent. The ideal soundtrack for a lazy Sunday morning!
