The Andre 'DJ Frass' Gordon produced 'My Journey', I-Octane's second long player, could have been a more than solid new roots album - because let us be clear instrumentally it's absolutely up to scratch - were it not for the fact that Octane's voice got an unmistakable Auto-Tune treatment for just about every track. That technique is still quite unpopular in Europe and can also count on the dislike of yours truly. This does not necessarily mean 'My Journey' should be labelled a bad album, but the use of Auto-Tune, gives I-Octane's voice a rather monotone color and for that reason 'My Journey' will perhaps catch on more in the US, where the use of voice alteration is much more accepted. In conclusion our personal highlights from the track list: roots track 'Babylon', 'It's Alright', a duet with Gentleman and the ganja tune 'Burn It'.
