Yours truly is a big fan of Jah6 and, after the release of their debut EP last year, looked forward with anticipation to their first album. 'Jah6' meets all expectations. In addition to a number of songs that could already be found on the EP ('Diep In Mijn Hart', 'De Vlieger' and of course 'Zij Gelooft In Mij'), this self-titled album, among other things, also contains a beautiful jazzy roots version of Rames Shaffy's 'Laat Me' (including a number of sound bites by Shaffy himself), a dancehall rework with carillon intro of Danny de Munk's hit 'Ik Voel Me Zo Verdomd Alleen' (from the soundtrack of 'Ciske De Rat') and Andre Hazes' 'Bloed, Zweet & Tranen' in a mix of tango and reggae. The version of 'Mooi Was Die Tijd' differs from that on the EP, because for the album version Jah6 was able to convince Corry Konings to redo her original vocals. Absolute must for reggae lovers without prejudice!
