With their previous releases iASO Records focused on the past of bachata, but with these two albums the label sets its sights on the future of the genre. Joan Soriano, also known as El Duque de la Bachata ("the Duke of bachata"), started his career together with his siblings in the Los Candes band (named after their father Candelario). The family orchestra performed mostly in and around Monte Plata, a farming community just north of Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic, but at the age of thirteen Joan left his native soil to try his luck in the capital. There he ended up in Villa Mella, one of the slums of the city, but also the beating heart of bachata. The rest is history; nowadays Joan is one of the rising stars in the genre and after his debut album 'El Duque De La Bachata' he looked up his siblings for successor 'La Familia Soriano'. The DVD that comes with 'El Duque De La Bachata' is an interesting bonus as it shows the difficult path Joan Soriano had follow in his rise to fame.
