Rapper Kaer is a former member of Liège based hip-hop collective Starflam and for his solo debut 'Versatil' revisits his Latin-American Ecuadorian roots (lyrically beautifully illustrated in 'Mi Tierra'). Sound-wise 'Versatil' has somewhat the same vibe as bands like Orishas ('Me Gusta') or even Delinquent Habits: hip-hop with influences from salsa and other Latin music genres (the pinch of reggae in 'Solo Recuerdos' and the John Lee Hooker-like blues riff of 'La Calle De Lola' are notable exceptions). For the beats Kaer called on DJ Mig One (who earned his spurs working with, among others, Orishas) and the musicians of Sudakaya provided the necessary backing. The not entirely unimportant second voice on the album is that of Daniel Lopez. The cover of the album seems to be strongly inspired by Latin-American art and is reminiscent of the work of Mexican artist Frida Kahlo.
