The second album by Cameroonian singer-songwriter Kareyce Fotso is titled 'Mokte' ("believing"). Fotse does not refer to "believing" in the religious sense of the word, but as in "believing in yourself" and "fulfilling your dreams" (nicely summarized in 'Just Believe' and 'Youmbata'). That being said, Kareyce also tackles subjects like the disappointments you can incur when you believe your dreams realized before that is actually the case ('Kowadi?') or the fact some of us are not able to fulfill our potential simply because life deals unexpected blows sometimes (illustrated in 'Tiwassa', a story about a promising and intelligent student who because of numerous setbacks does not succeed in life). Our favorite song from 'Mokte' is closing track 'Aya', which musically might be a lightweight bossa nova song, but content-wise has a serious message (the disenchantment many African migrants are faced with when upon arrival in Europe, after facing many hardships and making sacrifices, they notice it's not the paradise they believed it to be).
