The relationship between Kiddus I and Homegrown Band already goes back to 2005, when the French band around saxophonist Guillaume 'Stepper' Briard accompanied the Jamaican veteran a first time during a tour in France. In fact, 'Take A Trip', distributed by Iroko Records, was already finished in 2009, but because of various circumstances never found its way into stores. The fact 'Take A Trip' is still being released now is sadly due to the fact the album is mainly intended as a tribute to Homegrown bassist Daniel 'Gorgon' Moustin who lost the battle with cancer in 2013. For the most part the track list of 'Take A Trip' contains new songs, Kiddus I also tackled covers of Edith Piaf's 'L'Hymne A L'Amour' (opener 'If You Love Me') and 'As Time Goes By', performed by Dooley Wilson in the movie classic 'Casablanca'. 'Take A Trip' is a solid and almost timeless roots album with Kiddus I, with that distinctive voice of his, delivering his songs almost in spoken word fashion. For those interested, in conclusion we can divulge the beautiful cover illustration was done by French artist Dany Viaud.
