As the man behind Jamrock Vibez, Iregi 'Ital' Miller aka King Ital Rebel was responsible for numerous hit tunes of artists like Sizzla, Luciano, Lutan Fyah and Chezidek, but with 'Rebel Chant', he's now also releasing his personal long player debut. For the album, Rebel collaborated with a variety of producers, including Nico Rebel Music, Grimbit, Doobz McRiddim and our very own MacLes, who was also responsible for mastering. Stylistically 'Rebel Chant' has quite an eclectic track list and not all tracks can convince. We hit the skip button for the heavy dubstep of opener 'Keep It Positiv', and the drum & bass of 'Medical Pass Code' wasn't really our cup of tea either. But Rebel definitely masters his skill, something he proves with tracks like 'Jah Warrior', the excellent ganja tune 'Chalice Ina Palm', for which he invited Promise No Promises, or the enjoyable 'Jah No Dead'. Just the once ('Emmanuel') Rebel turns to a classic riddim and bearing the King Ital Rebel name, that just had to be Soul Rebel. King Ital Rebel clearly knows what he's doing, but next time we'd still prefer a slightly more balanced track list.
