L'Orchestre Folklorique Tout Puissant de Mingiedi commonly referred to as Konono N°1 is back with a new tour and a new album: 'Assume Crash Position!', a title that refers to the original meaning of the word "konono" (the stiffening of the body after death). The band was expanded with a guitarist, a bass player and some additional vocalists, but in all fairness 'Assume Crash Position' is no more than the logical sequel to their 2005 debut, once again taking the listener on a trip in time to their ancestral Congo with their hypnotic sound, based on traditional Bazombo trance music. Although this second album leaves nothing to be desired, Konono N°1 remains a band you have to experience live.
