With 'Vivo' festive Brussels-Colombian band La Chiva Gantiva created a logical follow-up to their 2011 debut 'Pelao'. The album was recorded in their home-built studio located above the Brussels pub Bonnefooi, the band's home away from home, and was mixed by Joel Hamilton (among other things already responsible for Bomba Estereo's 'Elegancia Tropical'). 'Vivo' sounds a lot tighter than its predecessor, but once again Colombian percussion rhythms form the backbone of the album, enriched with cumbia ('La Pecosa'), afrobeat ('Estrenando', 'Me Voy De Mi Cabeza'), rock ('El Valor Tiene Mareo' and 'Pigeon', a song for which Rafael Espinel switches to French), hip-hop ('La Pecosa') and funk ('El Valor Tiene Mareo'). Disco muy chévere ("cool album")!
