With this double album reissue, Buda Musique provides revisits the first two albums by French Gypsy ensemble Les Yeux Noirs. The band was founded in 1992 by brothers Eric and Olivier Slabiak, both violinists who studied at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels. Eric and Olivier grew up in a musical family, with their one uncle Leo, a longtime violinist for Joseph Reinhardt, and another, Charlie, who played double bass with the legendary Django himself as a member of the infamous Hot Club de France. Amateurs of gypsy music and the violin may consider these two Les Yeux Noirs albums as classics in the gypsy genre, and that from a period, 1992-1994, still far removed from any Shantel-powered Balkan hype!
