For her solo debut Marinah (ex-Ojos de Brujo front woman Marina 'La Canillas' Abad) opted for an easily digestible sound she describes as world-pop. 'El Baile De Las Horas' ("the dance of the seasons", in Greek and Roman mythology the Horae or Hours were the goddesses of the seasons) is indeed a pop album, but a solid one at that. Marinah surrounded herself with a lot of good folk for 'El Baile De Las Horas': flamenco guitarists Dani de Morón and Ruben Labaniegos took care of the flamenco and rumba influences ('Iré', 'Despierto'), Gotan Project's Philippe Cohen Solal added a pinch of tango ('El Carrusel') and Orishas' Ruzzo & Roldan added some hip-hop meet cumbia vibes to 'Te Gustó '. With the sturdy rocking 'Aqui Estoy', that, in our humble opinion, should have been the opening track of the album, Marinah confirms she's still standing even after Ojos de Brujo. Duly noted!
