Mikey General remains one of the most undervalued Jamaican artists of his generation and on 'African Story African Glory' (issued on Qabalah First Music, Mikey's own label) the humble lion once again shows what he's worth. Not to say General doesn't opt for a rather commercial approach here and there ('Myspace', the terrible dance track 'Not Impossible'). Top track on 'African Story African Glory' is 'I Blaze', a ganja-tune and duet with Toussaint. Fans of classic riddims will also find what they are looking for on this album: 'Guide Me' is a version of 'Why Did You Leave Me To Cry' and for the infectious 'Pep In Your Step' General recycled the great Cuss Cuss riddim. Until further notice General's "story" will continue to have our attention!
