In February of last year Nattali Rize already gave us a taste of this new album with the release of her 'New Era Frequency' EP. Some songs from that EP also pop up in the track list of 'Rebel Frequency': there's 'Generations Will Rize', her duet with Notis Heavyweightrockaz and 'Heart Of A Lion', her combination with Kabaka Pyramid and that same Notis, is also featured. A new collaboration is 'Natty Rides Again', featuring Julian Marley, and the acoustic 'One People' is also Marley-related, as it's Rize's ode to Bob's 'Redemption Song'. The Australian singer summarizes the album as follows: "We're here to deliver a different frequency to what is being transmitted by the current world system and culture of consumerism and ignorance. Our words, melodies, rhythms and intentions are to empower and inspire full freedom, that frequency is a rebel in this paradigm.". Some of the productions on 'Rebel Frequency', the work of the aforementioned Notis and Lotek, felt slightly bombastic ('Heart Of A Lion', title track 'Rebel Frequency'), but the track list just as well contains gems like the slow-paced 'Meditation' or 'Evolutionary', a great combo with Dre Island and Jah9.
