The sound of Nazarenes is somewhat reminiscent of the Virgin Island roots of bands like Midnite (making an appearance on 'The Lord Said') or Bambu Station, so it shouldn't come as that much of a surprise that for their fourth long player they decided to collaborate with producer Laurent 'Tippy I' Alfred of I Grade Records. With 'Meditation' the Tewolde brothers recorded their most spiritual album thus far. Be sure to check title track 'Meditation' in which the brothers open with a prayer in Ge'ez, a language that is only used in Ethiopian liturgy. The hip-hop influenced 'Get Together' is a bit of an outsider in the track list, but the album ends on another meditative note with the splendid 'Love JAH'. To top it all off the sleeve illustration for the album was provided by Jah Terms, who designed what is undoubtedly the most beautiful reggae album cover of 2012.
