After 2015's 'Kingston City', giving the band international momentum, family unit (brothers Stephen, Courtney Jr. and Tahir Panton and father Courtney Sr.) New Kingston return with 'A Kingston Story: Come From Far'. Asked about the album title, Courtney Panton Jr. replied: "There's always a moment in life where we subconsciously show gratitude to where we are now by reflecting on where we came from. 'Come From Far' is our experience; as a family, as musicians and as human beings living in a world where anything is possible!". With a track list containing only 10 songs, of which one interlude ('Browne's Interlude' does feature bass veteran Glen Browne though) and one dub, 'A Kingston Story' is more of a short story then an entire novel. The only guest vocalist on 'A Kingston Story' is Pressure Busspipe, making an appearance in 'Starlight'. Opener 'Come From Far' is certainly one of the most infectious songs from the track list, but the meditative 'Meditation' and the energetic 'Reggae Music's Playing' could also immediately convince. Our personal favorite is 'Solid As A Rock', urban reggae that could have been plucked from a movie soundtrack. The only track that just sounded a bit too corny to our ears was 'Agape', the Greek term for "love". 'A Kingston Story: Come From Far' is a so-called "creeper", an album that gets better each time you play it.
