For 'Arbina', her second international album, Mauritanian iggawen (griot) Noura Mint Seymali once again took to Studio G in Brooklyn, where she'd recorded part of predecessor 'Tzenni' as well. The title of the album is a term used by Mauritanians to refer to God, and the theme of 'Arbina' is calling on God for help and protection. It gets most personally in title track 'Arbina', in which Noura pleads with her female compatriots just to screen for breast and uterine cancer, a disease that also claimed the life of Noura's mother. 'Arbina' sounds a bit funkier and less rock-influenced than predecessor 'Tzenni' and is in all respects a very worthy successor.
