With 'Better Off Dread' the energetic singjay Perfect Giddimani is turning out his ninth long player! For the album, he collaborated with a number of producers (House Of Riddim, Weedy G Sound Force, Sly & Robbie, Drew Keys, Jimmy Cui...) and musically 'Better Off Dread' is once again a kaleidoscope of genres: new roots/conscious dancehall in tracks like title track 'Better Off Dread' or mama tune 'For My Mama', digital eighties dancehall in 'Once Upon A Time', hip-hop for 'Revolution Come', a combination with Lutan Fyah and Jahdan Blakkamoore and even metal for 'Like Marley'. In reggae circles the letters of German automobile company BMW equalled decades Bob Marley & The Wailers for decades, but Perfect has now come up with the ideal update: 'BMW (Black Man Wagon)'. 'Hail The King', a duet with Brazilian singer Dada Yute over The Gladiators' 'Streets Of Gold', is one of the best tracks on this album and with 'Market Ram' (over Gregory Isaacs' 'Rumours') Perfect proves he is still at his best when talking about his own past as a market seller dealing in fruit and veg (see also his biggest hit 'Handcart Bwoy').
