Pucho Diaz is a Cuban troubadour who after a stint in Barcelona ended up in Brussels. For his debut-EP 'Coincidencia' ("coincidence"), he worked among other things along with that other Brussels based Cuban, Ray Cabrera, and singers Billie Kawende and Leki, resulting in 7 poetic nueva trova songs. We have slight suspicion Diaz' repertoire will probably rather appeal to a female audience, but that being said, yours truly wouldn't mind awakening to this kind of music on a sunny weekend day. We couldn't really find fault with any of the songs on 'Coincidencia', yet we were most taken with 'Pero Parece' (appearing in the track list both in the original and an abridged version) and 'Para Mi Negro', a song for which all the aforementioned artists provided backing vocals. Promising calling card!
