Ras Pilot was born in Trinidad as Everard Sealy and initially earned a living running his own clothing store Brands Galore (grown into a small chain of five stores in Trinidad and Tobago). Under the name Pilot he initially still mainly performed a calypso and soca repertoire, but in 2005, following a spiritual awakening, he changed his name to Ras Pilot. 'Keep The Faith', recorded in collaboration with Dutch Speakah Productions, is a more than solid singjay album which reminded yours truly more than once ('Generation Weed', 'Mr Man') of Anthony B's work. The spoken word intro of the album is a clear tribute to the work of dub poets like Mutabaruka and 'Sweet Paradise' could just as well have been a song by Glen Washington. In our humble opinion, more than enough good references for you to give this album a chance.
