Dhol-'n-brass, that's how Sunny Jain, founder of Red Baraat, describes the unique sound of his band. Not that Jain has come up with something completely new, because in India the combination of brass instruments with the dhol drum has been around for several centuries in the form of the baraat, the classic Hindu wedding procession. By blending that music with influences from jazz, funk and hip-hop, Red Baraat creates a fresh new mix that is difficult to compare with anything else (although there are similarities with the marching-bands, like the ones featured at American Football games). For the European version of the album two live tracks from Red Baraat's 2011 'Bootleg Bhangra' album were added.
