Although he is still a relatively new face in the Jamaican music scene, Romain Virgo probably doesn't need further introduction. By winning the Digicel Rising Stars talent show (Jamaica's equivalent for shows like Idol or The Voice) at the age of seventeen in 2007, Virgo wrote history and this self-titled debut is one of the most anticipated releases of 2010. Most tracks on the album were produced by Donovan Germain (fans of his Penthouse-sound know what that means). Romain opts for the better lovers rock, so new roots and dancehall lovers will probably not find what they are looking for on this album, but 'Romain Virgo' is very tightly produced and contains more than a few potential hits ('Mi Caan Sleep', 'Who Feels It Knows It', 'Love Doctor', 'No Money'...). For 'I'm Doing Good', the final track on the album, Romain invited his successor, 2008's Digicel Rising Stars winner Cameal Davis. Great promise!
