This "new" Sizzla album is not quite what it seems as in fact this is a compilation of never released tracks Sizzla recorded between 1992 and 2003 for the Xterminator label of his mentor Philip 'Fatis' Burrell. Burrell suddenly passed away in 2011 and the Xterminator torch has meanwhile been passed on to his son Kareem. The fact the tracks on 'Radical' were recorded in the space of more than a decade and that this is not a 'Best Of ' compilation made up of well-known Sizzla hits, makes this album lack cohesion. Some songs in the track list immediately evoke the vibe from the heydays of the Xterminator label (title track Radical is a cut on the I Know Myself riddim, which Sizzla also used for 'Greedy Joe' featured on his 'Prais Ye Jah' album) or the sound of Sizzla's early releases ('Sad Mistake', 'Hardcore', 'I Am No Better ', 'It's A Rocky Road', a track over a revamp of the Swing Easy riddim) but for other tracks ('That's Why I Love You', 'All Da Time', 'I Am A Winner', 'Fly High Fly Low') the reason why they were never released is all too clear. Doubtful case!
