We already announced 'Strength To Survive', the new album by Soldiers Of Jah Army, at the time of the release of their 'Mentality' EP, several months ago. The album was released in the US at the beginning of this year and to reward the patience of their European fans a lot of extras were added to the original track list. A bit in line with the recent trend in reggae of reverting back to an acoustic sound, 'Strength To Survive' also contains four stripped versions of songs that also appear elsewhere in the track list. 'Everything Changes', a track we already knew from the 'Mentality' EP, remains a top tune and on 'Strenth To Survive' the song is featured in three different versions (in addition to the original, a version with French band Danakil and a remix with Gentleman were added). SOJA seem to have found the perfect balance between solid rock, reggae and pop and the Puerto Rican horn section (Rafael Rodriguez and Hellman Escorcia) makes for an even fuller and warmer sound. With 'Strength To Survive' the Washingtonians finally come of age!
