Upon hearing the repertoire of Sonido Gallo Negro ("the sound of the black rooster"), an instrumental mix of cumbia sonidera, huayno, boogaloo and chicha (with instruments like the Farfisa organ and the theremin providing a psychedelic touch) you may not immediately think of a Mexican band, but none the less, this is a band from Mexico City, where they've been putting the underground scene aflame since 2011. 'Sendero Mistico' ("the mystical path") is already Sonido Gallo Negro's second album and is also the first non-African production on the Glitterbeat Records label. Absolute discovery!
