Yours truly got to know Tanya Stephens at the time of her 'Gangsta Blues' album and her biggest hit to date 'It's A Pity', but before she decided to follow her heart and relocate to Sweden, she recorded a number of albums for the VP label. Since Stephens contract with VP Records has come to an end, the label apparently thought the time right to release a 'Best Of' compilation. 'Collection Of Hits' combines the best from her older albums ('Too Hype', 'Ruff Rider') with the biggest hits from her two latest albums 'Gangsta Blues' and 'Rebelution'. VP clearly put the emphasis on her relational-oriented tunes, because socio-critical smashes like 'The Other Cheek' or 'Come A Long Way' are nowhere to be found. As usual, this VP release also comes with a bonus-DVD including apart from an interview and some video clips ('Warn Them', 'It's A Pity' and 'These Streets'), outtakes of the semi-acoustic set 'Tanya Stephens Stripped Down' (also to be found on the DVD that came with the 'Rebelution' album) and a registration of a concert she did for the American music show Soundcheck. 'Collection Of Hits' might be of interest to those who want most of Tanya's hits on one disc, still have to get to know La Stephens or for diehard fans.
