The swine flu hysteria has kept the world in its grasps for months now and maybe that's the reason why Tarrus Riley chose to name his latest album 'Contagious'. When yours truly first got to know Riley Jr. (Tarrus Riley is the son of Jimmy Riley, former member of formations The Sensations and The Uniques), I wasn't immediately overwhelmed by his style and abilities, but in time his somewhat soulful style has grown on me. 'Contagious' is without a doubt Tarrus' best effort thus far. The album was again produced by his mentor Dean Fraser who signs for a horn infused roots sound. As a true Rasta prophet Tarrus apparently foresaw Michael Jackson's untimely death, because the album also contains a reggae version of Jackson's 'Human Nature'.
