'Vivre Libre', the debut effort by The Aquatics, a twelve man strong collective that operates from Île-de-France, is somewhat reminiscent of the music by American SOJA (Soldiers Of Jah Army): roots reggae with strong rock influences. With songs like 'Police' (about abuse of power and police corruption) or 'Le Mythe De L’Elite' (we are all brainwashed by the big corporations) the two bands also seem to be related lyrically. And as if a full football team of musicians wasn’t enough, Fyah Dub saxophonist Rico and even Sugar Minott came to lend a hand. Vocalist loUd aka Ludovic Jean alternates between French and English, but his knowledge of that last language seems somewhat limited, making his lyrics sound simplistic at times. Just make loUD stick to the language of Molière and The Aquatics will do just fine!
