For once let us get straight to the point: with 'Nothing More To Say' The Frightnrs have created an instant classic in the rocksteady genre! Unfortunately, there's also a tragic side to this long player debut by this Queens, New York based band, as after the recording of 'Nothing More To Say', lead vocalist Dan Klein was told he was suffering from ALS, an incurable muscular disease which finally turned fatal in June of this year. Although some songs on 'Nothing More To Say' may give the impression Klein already knew what was ahead of him, the band leaves no doubt: "'Nothing More To Say' was recorded during the summer of 2015 before anyone, including Dan Klein himself, knew of the impending AS diagnosis. Although some songs seem to foreshadow the tragic events that followed, these songs are strictly based on the band's experiences with love and loss.". The album was produced by Victor Axelrod aka Ticklah and apart from two soul covers from the Daptone-catalog (Bob & Gene's 'Gotta Find A Way' and Saun and Starr's 'Gonna Make Time') contains only original compositions. Very strong debut and a more than worthy testament to Dan Klein. Respect due!
