Let's get straight to the point: this debut album by Timmi Burrell, a young artist born in Spanish Town, but now based in Negril, should count as one of the big surprises of 2014. 'A Small Town Boy Story' is far removed from sounding like a debut album. Be sure to Check 'They Wanna Murder We', a duet with Mojo Herb or the successful lovers tunes 'Fools Game' and 'True Love' (that organ sound!), with 'Mama' Timmi signs for what will probably become the best mama tune of 2014 and title track 'Small Town Boy' is also an absolute must. But in all honesty, there aren't any bad tracks on 'A Small Town Boy Story' and that's something not every production can boast! Yours truly only knew Burrell through his contribution on the one riddim compilation 'Puff Puff Riddim' ('Smoke & Pass', Timmi's version on that riddim can also be found on 'A Small Town Boy Story') with producer MacLes playing a serious role in the production of this album as well. Beljam strikes again!
