Bermudian singjay Troy Berkley and French producer Krak In Dub (real name Federico Trujillo) have been collaborating in the European sound system scene for close to 20 years now and that working relationship has now crystallized into this long player. In the track list of 'Upgrades', 12 songs we'd like to describe as bass music (UK steppers, drum & bass, dancehall, dubstep...) and sure to guarantee a solid party. Top tunes: the highly energetic 'Sound And Power', that even seems suitable for a solid workout, the equally catchy and energetic drum & bass of closing track 'Matrixx', opener 'Life On The Line', over a digitized version of the riddim of Peter Tosh's 'Johnny B. Goode', 'Corner Dance', in which we recognized a sample from Scientist's 'Cry Of The Werewolf' (or Michael Prophet's 'Hold On To What You Got'), and finally 'Natty Nah Fear', for which the duo revamped Capital Letters' 'Natty Walk'. Troy Berkley & Krak In Dub: a wicked combination indeed!
