'Mission Incomplete' is the long player debut of singjay Tydal, born Navardo Graham in Saint Mary, Jamaica. With a track list counting no less than nineteen songs - some of which could already be found on the 'Journey Of A Young Warrior' EP - Tydal seems to have opted for quantity on 'Mission Incomplete'. That being said, the advantage of putting so many tracks on an album is of course, that the track list undoubtedly offers something to everyone's taste. From conscious one drop tracks like 'Silent Warrior', 'Tell Dem Fi Farm' or 'Try' (our favorite from the track list) and a lovers tune like 'Back Inna Mi Arms' over dancehall-light like 'Piece A Mi Love' to r&b and hip-hop influenced tracks like 'Stuck In Your Mind' and 'Ball Ground', Tydal does it all. The only real stinker on 'Mission Incomplete' is dance tune 'Give It To Me', a duet with Gyptian. Right on the mark is 'Have You Lost Somebody', a track in which Tydal meticulously describes what it feels like to lose a loved one. With tracks in a multitude of styles it's only logical Tydal collaborated with a range of producers (Penthouse Records, Vikings Productions, Justus Arison, Master One Productions, Dalton Leith, Sam Gilly...) who provided him with a selection of well-known and lesser known riddims (Street Of Gold, Baby Mother, Blessings, Oxygen, Hot Milk, Cool Runnings...). With the title of this album Tydal already indicates his mission is still far from complete and yours truly for one will definitely keep an eye on him!
