With 'Augustus Pablo presents Rockers International' the Greensleeves label created a package release of two productions by legendary melodica-man Augustus Pablo. 'Augustus Pablo presents Rockers International' was first released in 1980, but for this reissue Greensleeves opted for the extended track list of the 1991 CD-edition, in 1992 followed by 'Augustus Pablo presents Rockers International 2'. The two discs contain 28 songs that can roughly be divided into melodica instrumentals, vocal cuts and dubs, and give an excellent overview of the output of the Rockers International label during the 1970s and 1980s. Just the list of featured musicians (Robbie Shakespeare, Leroy Sibbles, Aston 'Family Man' Barrett, Leroy 'Horsemouth' Wallace, Carlton Barrett, Noel 'Sowell' Bailey, Earl 'Chinna' Smith, Vin Gordon, Bobby Ellis - just to name a few) is impressive enough to get every reggae fanatic reeling. Add riddims like Real Rock ('El Rockers'), Swing Easy ('Cool Melody'), False Rasta ('555 Crown Street') or King Tubby Meets The Rockers Uptown ('Black Force') and a mix of now legendary and almost forgotten vocalists (Earl Sixteen, Jah Levi aka Hugh Mundell, Jacob Miller, Delroy Williams, but also Jah Iny, Jah Bull, the illustrious girls-duo Sisters Jam or forgotten trio Tetrack) and you know this is a release you'll definitely want to add to your collection!
