'Future Sounds Of Buenos Aires', a compilation focusing on Buenos Aires' and Argentina's electronic music scene, proves once again that in modern "world music" ethnic/tropical elements are more and more becoming background details. Music will always continue to evolve and that's certainly not a bad thing, but yours truly hopes things won't evolve like they did in the field of linguistics, where many a language is already extinct. Although not all "experiments" on 'Future Sounds Of Buenos Aires' have the same appeal, the track list certainly contains enough intriguing tracks: the 8-bit electro-cumbia sounds of Super Guachin sound like an eighties Atari-game, El Trip Selector's 'Coombia Del Piano Triste' sounds similar and Fauna's cumbia-interpretation 'Hongo x Hongo' also struck a chord with yours truly.
