Almost 40 years after the release of 'Love Crisis', or in the European version 'Black Sounds Of Freedom', King Jammy invited a host of reggae artists to revamp a song one from the iconic Black Uhuru album. More than strict versions, the tracks on 'New Sounds Of Freedom' sound more as tributes, as in nearly all of the songs in the track list the voices of the original Black Uhuru-members - at the time: Duckie Simpson, Michael Rose and Errol 'Tarzan' Nelson - can still be heard. Veterans Tony Rebel and Louie Culture put in a good effort with versions of 'Sorry For The Man' and title track 'Love Crisis', but to our great surprise - as we're not immediately big fans of the work of both artists - we were most taken with 'Leggo Babylon Wickedness', Shaggy and Beenie Man's version of 'African Love', and 'Another Day In The Ghetto' , Bounty killer's version of 'Hard Ground', is also one of the toppers in the track list. Nice gimmick!
