'Paranda' actually dates from 2000, but is now for the first time distributed in the Benelux thanks to Xango Music Distribution. For the album the Stonetree label united the cream of Garifuna musicians and 'Paranda' also launched the international careers of, among others, Aurelio Martinez and the late Andy Palacio (both part of the new generation of punta musicians, who rediscovered the old Garifuna traditions, of which paranda is only one example). On 'Paranda' they are joined by a number of legends in the genre: Paul Nabor, the last living parandero in Punta Gorda, Belize, Jursino Cayetano, the last parandero in Guatemala and finally Gabaga Williams, who is considered the greatest parandero in the world, but affected by arthritis unfortunately can no longer play his songs himself and therefor was assisted by Dale Guzman.
