'Real Rio', after 'Oi! A Nova Musica Brasileira!', 'Daora: Underground Sounds Of Urban Brazil' and 'Rolê: New Sounds Of Brazil', already Mais Um Discos' fourth compilation of contemporary Brazilian music (this time rock, pop, noise and electronic music from Rio de Janeiro), was compiled by Chico Dub, also the curator of Novas Frequencias, a renowned festival for experimental music in Rio. On the first disc of this double album he presents among other some exponents from Rio's alternative lo-fi scene (Ava Rocha, Ricardo Dias Gomes, Negro Leo, Meia Banda…) and African-inspired acts like BNegão & Seletores de Frequência, Abayomy Afrobeat Orchestra and André Sampaio e Os Afromandinga. The second disc, which was a little less to yours truly's taste, focusses on the electronic downbeat of, among others, Ceticencias, Superficie and Eric Alves, and the baile funk influenced club sounds of Cadu Tenorio, Chelpa Ferro and Bemônio. Amateurs of Brazilian music wishing to stay up to date know what to do!
